I'll start regarding things to be aware of/ consider:
- daycare waiting lists are long (and are often 12-24 months out), so if interested in day care look at getting on those lists as soon as you find out you are pregnant.
- As you look at daycares, take a close look at the hours and days off (in that some daycares/ preschools follow the school schedule and have spring break, are closed for religious holidays, or even close for a few weeks in the summer... and so you either have to have alternative child care or will have to take time off).
- Does the school provide lunch/ snacks/ crib sheets/ clean the sheets. None of these are necessarily deal breakers, but things to be aware of when considering price and convenience and that extra load you may be carrying. (We chose a daycare that provided all food and laundry because I couldn't take making/ packing food and doing the additional laundry given my trial schedule... but some parents prefer to provide their own food and bedding).
Who else has tips regarding what to consider/ be aware of when deciding between a nanny and day care?
