Top Ten Reasons to Attend the CWBA's 47th Annual Convention on May 17th - 19th at The Hythe Vail

  1. Reconnect with familiar friends and meet new ones at the beautiful Hythe Vail. The Hythe Vail offers excellent spaces to mingle with fellow CWBA members, whether it’s on the courtyard patio enjoying s’mores, lounging by the pool, or relaxing in the spa (more on the spa below!).

  2. Witness this year’s Mary Lathrop Trailblazer Award ceremony. On Friday night of Convention, CWBA will commemorate and celebrate the Honorable Charlotte Sweeney as this year’s Mary Lathrop award recipient. Judge Charlotte Sweeney is the first LGBTQ+ judge on the federal bench and is also extremely active in the CWBA.

  3. Learn about managing burnout from a nationally recognized keynote speaker, Emilie Aries. Emilie will speak on beating burnout and thriving as we strive.  During one of the many breakout sessions, you will also have the opportunity to get one-on-one tips from Emilie as well as with fellow attendees.

  4. Enjoy breakfast while gaining invaluable insight from Dimple Dhabalia. Dimple will speak on widening your window using awareness and compassion to shift from languishing to leadership in the law. Specifically, she will discuss her book called Tell Me My Story. Attendees will receive a copy of Dimple's book!

  5. Connect with U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar. She will be one of our many exciting speakers and will discuss her work as U.S. Solicitor General, ethics, and also being a mom of two. One of our very own Colorado Court of Appeals judges, the Honorable Jaclyn Casey Brown, will moderate this discussion.

  6. Welcome Carime Lee as she is inducted as this year’s incoming CWBA president! Carime will also host a special On What Grounds? Leadership Cafe session where she will interview Suzette Malveaux on empowering and advocating for justice. Suzette Malveaux is a Moses Lasky Professor of Law and Director of the Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law at the University of Colorado Law School.

  7. Attend our great plenary and breakout sessions led by engaging speakers including Olivia Omega, Maria del Rosario Oxman and Trina Maull!

  8. Engage in the "How To Thrive" roundtables discussions about different ways to thrive in your life and career. This year’s roundtable speakers include women from many different legal backgrounds including public interest, private firms, non-profit and even the bench!

  9. Relax in the Well & Being Spa at the Vail Hythe with a 25% discount. Book your appointment now for a massage, facial, or body treatment.

  10. Sing your heart out and get your groove on! Back by popular demand, a karaoke dance party will take place on Saturday night! Get your songs ready and enjoy hearing fellow members belt it out!
