No Pressure Networking at CWBA Walk and Talks

The MembHERship and Mentorship Committee has hosted two of their “Walk and Talk” events so far this board year. The programs, hosted in Denver and Nederland to date, are a casual and low-pressure way to connect with members of the CWBA.

On July 18, CWBA members in Denver met up in Washington Park and walked around the park loop. Attendees spent the evening chatting about their experiences with pro-bono work and volunteerism, and enjoyed the beautiful sunset over the scenic Wash Park boathouse.

On August 8, members of the CWBA Boulder chapter connected with the Boulder County Bar Association to enjoy a beautiful low impact hike at the Caribou Ranch trail in Nederland. The group took in the beautiful scenery, chatted, connected, and enjoyed some snacks and beverages as a post-hike reward!

Nederland gave us her best—8,000 feet of an easy-to-moderate trail at Caribou Ranch Open Space that felt like the perfect metaphor for life: Sometimes a gentle stretch, sometimes a little climb, but always worth the view.

These events are truly special. They are a much-needed, soul-refreshing break from the relentless hum of our computers, the endless notifications on our phones, and the weight of “what’s next?” that so many of us carry.

We met fascinating people.

We breathed in beauty.

We laughed, shared snacks, and sipped drinks together afterward - from sparkling water to bubbly brews - feeling lighter and more connected than when we started.

Here’s the truth: We all need spectacular outdoor mental health days. Time in Colorado’s abundant nature allows us to laugh freely because for a few hours, when the world feels lighter, our worries smaller, and our hearts wide open. To breathe deeply enough to remember who we are and to enjoy the kind of company of your fellow CWBA colleagues that makes you feel both at home and inspired. The photos capture what words can’t, and my hope is that they remind you of this truth—when we step outside and into our CWBA community, we step closer to joy.

If you’re new to the CWBA or nervous about networking, the Walk and Talk events are a great option. You’ll get your steps in, meet new connections, forge friendships, and enjoy the beautiful scenery available throughout Colorado.

Two more Walk and Talks are coming up in October. The first will be hosted in tandem with our Boulder Chapter and the Boulder County Bar Association in Boulder on October 18. Register here!

The second and final of 2025 will be hosted in collaboration with our Larimer County Chapter on October 24 in Fort Collins at Lee Martinez Park. Register here!

Here’s to more miles, more laughter, and more days like this.

If you have a favorite spot to stroll and want us to plan a walk and talk in your area, be sure to join the MembHERship and Mentorship Committee meetings, which are held monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at noon. Sign up for their next meeting here.
