Practicing law as a new and expecting mother brings its own set of challenges. On March 25, 2021, the CWBA is partnering with CBA Young Lawyers Division to discuss challenges and lessons learned as part of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (CEI) TEDTalk-Style CLE. We encourage our members to continue the discussion, share their experiences and provide tips to other members.

One of the topics we didn't have time to touch on is the issue of child care that looms for all new moms. Most new parents struggle with the idea of day care or nanny. While the answer is very dependent on each family's individual circumstances, thought it might be helpful for this group to throw out some insight and perspective on what things expecting parents should be aware of/ consider as they are making these decisions.
I had a question I wanted to ask yesterday, but didn't have time. One of my mama friends told me that she felt sometimes like she fell overboard and was barely able to keep her head above water, but when she called out for help, people gave only platitudes, but never threw her a lifesaver. What are the lifesavers people have felt like they have needed as working moms but not gotten?
Who has tips to share for maintaining client relationships when you’re out on leave?
Great resource shared by a participant during the CLE: SCL Health has FREE lactation/new mom support groups (normally at ST. Joes and Lutheran, but right now virtual). The lactation consultant who leads them, Katie, is awesome.
